Before 1993, the favorite meeting point for press journalists was the cafe house on Mirza Ismail Road where they used to share their views and discuss burning burning issues and social problems. It was then that the idea of having an exclusive house for scribes came up where they could interact with each other.
A team of veteran press journalists led by Mr Praveen Chandra Chabra, Mr Rajindra Boda, Mr. Shiv Prakash Sharma, Mr Jagdish Sharma, Mr. Sanjeev Srivastava, Mr. Chandra Bhan Singhstarted their efforts to make their dream come true. After passing all bureaucratic hurdles, the stone for the club of journalists was was laid in a small colonial building on Narain Singh circle.
The press club grew very fast. It can be judged from the fact that when club was registered there were only 33 members within few months the membership crossed the figure of 100. Now at present the club has over 500 general members.
Within a short span of 10 years the club has become one of the elite clubs in the pink city. Among the press clubs spread all over the country, Jaipur press club ranks into the top list and the day is not far when it will become the best press club of the country.
